Kember
Real Northern Oak with a 4 mm wear layer, built to stay flat through humid Lowcountry summers.

Kember is a family-owned flooring maker in Ontario, Canada. It makes engineered flooring from American Northern Oak, three layers of hardwood with a 4 mm top wear layer. Kember says its planks are more stable than solid wood across 15–65% humidity. Charleston Design Center uses Kember for wood floors in Lowcountry homes that need to handle humid summers. CDC is an authorized Kember dealer.

Why Lowcountry
Engineered construction moves less than solid wood when humidity swings, which matters in homes on Daniel Island or James Island.
A 4 mm oak wear layer can usually be sanded and refinished, so the floor lasts for decades.
KemLam waterproof laminate gives a matching look in kitchens and mudrooms.

Frequently Asked Question
What is engineered hardwood?
Real wood layers bonded together with the grain running in different directions. It looks like solid hardwood but moves less as humidity changes.
Can Kember floors be refinished?
The 4 mm oak wear layer generally allows sanding and refinishing. Ask our designers about the finish and maintenance on the line you choose.
Is Kember good for a coastal home?
Its stability across 15–65% humidity makes it a solid choice for climate-controlled Lowcountry homes. For wet areas, we suggest KemLam waterproof laminate or tile.
