What to Expect When You Visit Charleston Design Center's Showroom

If you have been doing renovation research and are considering a visit to our showroom — or if someone recommended us and you are not quite sure what to expect — this post is for you. We want your first visit to be genuinely useful, not overwhelming, and to leave you with more clarity than you arrived with. That requires knowing a little about how our showroom works and what is actually in it.
What Is Actually in the Showroom
Our showroom at 3130 N Highway 17 in North Mount Pleasant is 15,000 square feet. That number becomes useful when it is translated into what it contains rather than cited as a size claim.
Flooring Displays
We have full-room flooring displays — areas large enough to give you a genuine sense of how a floor looks at scale, not how it looks on a 4-inch sample. You can walk on the floors. You can see LVP next to engineered hardwood next to porcelain tile and make the comparison with your own feet on all three. In a Lowcountry home where flooring decisions affect how the whole house feels, that scale experience changes how you decide.
The section also has hundreds of sample boards across every material — hardwood by species, LVP by collection, tile by size and format, carpet by texture and fiber.
Kitchen and Bath Displays
Multiple complete kitchen vignettes — full cabinet runs with working doors and drawers, countertops, hardware, and coordinating flooring. These are not isolated cabinet walls. They are designed kitchen setups that show how products work together as a system, in realistic spatial context, under natural and artificial light.
Every vignette was designed by our team to express a specific aesthetic: contemporary coastal, coastal farmhouse, transitional traditional, and variations within each. Walking through them helps you locate your own aesthetic direction faster than scrolling past images — because experiencing a fully realized version of an aesthetic is fundamentally different from looking at a photograph of one.
Countertop Slabs
Large-format countertop samples that are substantially bigger than the 4x4-inch chips that most stores present. Big enough to give you a real sense of veining scale, color movement, and material character. You can hold them next to cabinet door samples. You can see how a quartzite reads against a cabinet door in actual light. That comparison — which changes selections regularly — is only possible at scale.
Windows, Doors, and Outdoor Kitchen Displays
Working window and door displays you can operate — open and close, feel the hardware, understand the difference between a casement and a double-hung in actual use. Entry door displays in multiple styles and materials. And NatureKast outdoor cabinetry at full scale — so you can touch the weatherproof finish and understand the construction before any design decisions are made.
Walk-In vs. Scheduled Consultation — Both Are Right
Walk-In Visits
During regular business hours — Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM — walk-ins are always welcome. Our team is on the floor and available to answer questions, show products, and provide guidance on whatever you are considering. For clients in the early stages of thinking about a renovation, still forming their aesthetic direction, not yet sure what they want: a walk-in browse is often the ideal first step. No agenda, no pressure, just exploration.
Scheduled Consultations
For clients with a defined project in scope — a kitchen renovation with specific parameters, a whole-home flooring replacement, a new construction selection appointment — a scheduled consultation is significantly more productive. When we know you are coming and understand your project in advance, our designers prepare: relevant product categories are staged, samples for your aesthetic direction are pulled, and the session focuses on your decisions rather than general orientation.
Consultations are complimentary. No charge for the design conversation regardless of whether you purchase anything. We offer after-hours and weekend appointments for clients who cannot visit during regular business hours — call (843) 806-4470 to arrange.
What to Bring to Make the Most of Your Visit
Even phone photos of your existing kitchen, bathroom, or floors give our designers context for what you are replacing. Photos of your current space —
Pinterest boards, saved Instagram posts, magazine pages, or 'I want the opposite of what I have' expressed visually. Any of these tells our designers something useful about your direction. Inspiration images —
Not architectural drawings — just a sense of your room dimensions. Knowing your kitchen is approximately 15 by 22 feet is enough for initial conversations. Your rough measurements
You do not have to share a specific number, but having one in mind shapes the product conversations significantly. Our designers work within any budget range — not around it. A sense of your budget range —
If renovation decisions are made jointly, bringing your partner along produces more efficient and more satisfying outcomes than a solo visit followed by a second visit to get agreement. Your decision-maker —
What Happens After a Visit
Most first visits end with one of three outcomes: a clear product direction that leads to a design appointment and formal quote, a narrowed set of options that benefits from a second visit once initial decisions are made, or occasionally the discovery that the project scope needs to be thought through before product selection begins.
In every case, there is no obligation and no pressure on any timeline. Our philosophy — and this is genuinely how we operate, not marketing language — is that the right decision made carefully is better for everyone than a rushed decision that leads to regret. We would rather you leave with clarity and come back in three months ready to move than push you into something that does not feel right.
🏡 An Honest Welcome: We built this showroom to be useful, not impressive. Impressive is easy — you fill a space with beautiful displays and good lighting. Useful means every client who spends time here leaves with more clarity, more confidence, and more genuine excitement about their renovation than when they arrived. That is the experience we work for every single day. We look forward to meeting you. |
